The following cancellation policy applies:
More than 60 days prior to departure (before 12 April 2026) — deposit is non-refundable. Full balance refunded if already paid.

The bottom line? I am not here to nickel and dime anyone and will do my best to accommodate all reasonable requests. If something comes up please get in touch directly before submitting a formal cancellation request — there may be options available including transferring your place to a future expedition.
Hugh strongly recommends that all guests take out comprehensive travel insurance at the time of booking to protect against unforeseen circumstances including cancellation, medical expenses and evacuation costs.
This expedition may be cancelled or rescheduled due to:
In the event of cancellation by the host the following applies:
Cancellation due to minimum numbers not being reached — a full refund of all monies paid will be issued. Hugh will advise guests as early as possible — and no later than 30 days prior to departure — if minimum numbers have not been reached.
Cancellation due to circumstances beyond the host's control — guests will be offered:
Hugh will make every reasonable effort to avoid cancellation and will communicate with guests as early and as transparently as possible should any circumstances arise that may affect the expedition.
The Kimberley in June is generally one of the most reliable and beautiful times of year for photography — clear skies, low humidity and extraordinary light are the norm rather than the exception.
That said, weather conditions cannot be guaranteed and the host retains sole discretion to determine if conditions are suitable to proceed with any element of the expedition.
Individual sessions or excursions may be modified, postponed or replaced with an alternative activity if conditions are deemed unsuitable. Where possible alternative locations or timing will be arranged to ensure the best possible photographic outcomes for all participants.
In the event that weather conditions disrupt the expedition after departure the following applies:
Where one or more individual sessions are affected — Hugh will make every reasonable effort to substitute alternative locations or activities of equivalent photographic value. No refund is available for individual sessions lost to weather where a reasonable alternative has been offered.
Where weather conditions result in the early termination of the expedition — a pro-rata refund will be calculated based on the number of full days not completed, less any costs already committed or incurred by the host. Hugh will be as generous as circumstances reasonably allow.
In the event that weather conditions require the cancellation of the entire expedition prior to departure, the provisions of Clause 4 apply.
Helicopter flights are subject to their own weather and operational requirements as determined by the pilot and charter operator. Helicopter flights cancelled due to weather or operational conditions will be refunded in full.
This expedition requires a minimum of four participants to proceed and is strictly limited to a maximum of six participants.
The minimum number requirement exists to ensure the expedition is commercially viable and to maintain the high standard of experience and service that guests have a right to expect.
The maximum number of six participants is a deliberate and non-negotiable limit — it exists to ensure every participant receives genuinely personal attention and has the best possible photographic experience.
If minimum numbers are not reached guests will be notified as early as possible and no later than 30 days prior to departure. In this event a full refund of all monies paid will be issued promptly.
Hugh will make every reasonable effort to reach minimum numbers and will communicate openly and transparently with confirmed guests about the status of bookings should this become a concern.
Private expedition bookings — where a group of four to six participants books the expedition exclusively — are available. Please contact Hugh directly to discuss arrangements and pricing.
This expedition requires a moderate to intermediate level of physical fitness. Participants should be comfortable walking on uneven terrain, carrying camera equipment and spending extended periods outdoors in remote environments.
The majority of the expedition's locations are accessible with a moderate level of mobility. However the following specific requirements apply:
The Ragged Range excursions on Days 6 and 7 involve a three kilometre walk each way across unmaintained virgin terrain — a mix of rock, sand and spinifex with no tracks, no markers and no signs of human passage. A reasonable degree of fitness and sure-footedness is essential for these days. The walk is undertaken in the afternoon and again in the dark on the return journey.
Participants who have any concerns about their ability to complete the Ragged Range walk are strongly encouraged to contact Hugh directly before booking. Hugh will do everything reasonably possible to arrange alternative experiences for participants who are unable to undertake the walk — however alternatives cannot be guaranteed.
Participants are responsible for accurately representing their own fitness and mobility when booking. Hugh reserves the right to make operational decisions in the field based on the safety and wellbeing of all participants.
If you are unsure about any aspect of the physical requirements of this expedition please get in touch before booking and Hugh will address your concerns personally.
By booking this expedition participants acknowledge that they are undertaking a photography expedition in remote and wild country that presents genuine challenges and requires personal responsibility at all times.
Participants must:
The Kimberley is a genuine wilderness environment. It is home to saltwater crocodiles, venomous snakes and other wildlife that demands respect and careful awareness. Hugh will brief all participants on safety protocols before entering any potentially hazardous environment.
A moderate level of mobility is required for this expedition. Participants with specific mobility concerns should contact Hugh before booking — see Clause 7.
Participation in this expedition is undertaken at the guest's own risk.
The host accepts no responsibility for personal injury, loss or damage to personal equipment or belongings except where liability cannot be excluded under Australian Consumer Law.
The host accepts no responsibility for any costs arising from circumstances beyond the host's control including but not limited to weather events, road conditions, vehicle breakdown, access restrictions, wildlife encounters or the actions of third party operators including helicopter charter companies and accommodation providers.
Third party operators — including helicopter charter companies, accommodation providers and station operators — operate under their own terms and conditions and insurance arrangements. The host accepts no liability for the acts or omissions of any third party operator.
Guests are responsible for their own personal equipment at all times including cameras, lenses, tripods and other photography equipment. The host accepts no responsibility for loss or damage to photography equipment regardless of circumstances.
Guests are strongly advised to take out comprehensive travel insurance prior to departure covering cancellation, medical expenses, emergency evacuation, personal liability and loss or damage to photography equipment. Given the remote nature of this expedition travel insurance is not optional — it is essential.
The bottom line here is reasonableness and common sense. Hugh will take every reasonable precaution to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all participants throughout the expedition.
Two optional helicopter experiences are available on this expedition at additional cost. These experiences are strictly limited in availability and are subject to weather, operational conditions and minimum participant numbers.
Diggers Rest — Cockburn Range and King River Helicopter Flight
Available on Days 3 and 4 of the expedition. Flights operate over the Cockburn Range and King River at sunset on Day 3 and at dawn on Day 4. Participants choose one flight — sunset or dawn — at a cost of A$2,200 per person. A minimum of four participants is required for this experience to operate. Maximum six participants.
Ragged Range Helicopter Flight
Available on Day 7 of the expedition. A private helicopter flight over the Ragged Range at sunset. This experience replaces the ground shoot for those who choose it. A cost of A$2,500 per person applies. A minimum of two participants and a maximum of three participants applies for this experience.
The following conditions apply to both helicopter experiences:
Guests are welcome and encouraged to photograph throughout all aspects of this expedition.
The host and co-guide may capture images and video footage during the expedition for promotional and editorial purposes including use on the Hugh Brown Photography website, social media channels, print publications and other marketing materials.
Guests who prefer not to appear in promotional imagery or footage should advise Hugh prior to or at the commencement of the expedition. This preference will be respected and recorded.
Images captured by guests during the expedition remain the sole property of the guest. The host makes no claim over guest images.
Guests who share images from the expedition on social media or other public platforms are encouraged to credit Hugh Brown Photography and tag @hughbrownphotography where possible. This is appreciated but not required.
Post processing techniques, workflows and methodologies shared during the expedition are shared in good faith for the personal development of participants. Participants are asked to respect the intellectual property of both guides and not to reproduce or commercially exploit specific techniques or workflows without permission.
Comprehensive travel insurance is not optional on this expedition — it is essential.
The remote and demanding nature of this expedition means that guests must hold comprehensive travel insurance at the time of departure covering as a minimum:
Guests are strongly advised to take out travel insurance at the time of booking rather than waiting until closer to departure — cancellation cover only applies from the date the policy is taken out.
Hugh reserves the right to request evidence of travel insurance prior to departure. Guests who cannot provide evidence of adequate travel insurance may be refused participation in remote excursions at the host's discretion.
The cost of emergency evacuation from remote Kimberley locations can be extremely high. Guests who are not adequately insured assume full personal responsibility for any such costs.
Please ensure your policy specifically covers participation in remote wilderness photography expeditions and confirm with your insurer that all planned activities including helicopter flights are covered.
Please get in touch should you have any questions regarding these terms and conditions or any other aspect of this expedition.
Hugh responds personally to every enquiry. You can reach him directly at hb@hughbrown.com.
These terms and conditions are intended to be fair, reasonable and transparent. They exist to protect both guests and the host and to ensure that everyone who joins this expedition can do so with complete confidence and clarity.
I want everyone who joins me on this expedition to have the most extraordinary photographic experience of their lives. These terms exist to make that possible.
